Vanillin can be produced through various methods. Industrially, it is synthesized from guaiacol and also extracted from the lye produced during paper manufacturing. Additionally, there is a method involving the controlled fermentation of rice, which releases ferulic acid, an excellent precursor of vanillin. The vanillin obtained through this process has a more natural and creamy scent profile compared to its industrially synthesized counterpart.
