French lavender is the very essence of Provence. Harvested from wild and cultivated bushes growing at altitudes of 600–1,200 metres, particularly in the Alpes de Haute Provence, it has been the heart of French perfumery tradition since the 18th century — from the moment the Guild of Master Perfumers was founded in Grasse in 1759. The harvest takes place once a year, in July and August, when the flowers are just beginning to turn. The traditional préfané technique is used — the flowers are left to dry in the fields for two or three days before being steam-distilled, drawing out the full richness of their aromatic profile.

Comparison with Bulgarian lavender: compared to our Bulgarian version, the Orpur opens with a sharper, almost crystalline brightness. In the heart, however, it smooths out, remaining clean and silkily refined.
