Healingwood, created by IFF-LMR (Laboratoire Monique Rémy) — the world-class natural ingredients division rooted in French tradition, now part of the IFF group — is the highest-grade patchoulol available on the perfumery market. It is a pure, natural isolate of patchoulol (patchouli alcohol), obtained entirely through physical methods, without the use of synthetic solvents or chemical modification.

Patchoulol is the principal aromatic component of patchouli oil — the molecule responsible for its characteristic woody-earthy depth. In the raw oil it typically accounts for just 25–45% of the composition. Through hydrodistillation, fractional distillation and crystallisation, IFF-LMR has isolated nearly pure patchoulol (up to 99%) — capturing the essence of patchouli in its most refined form. It takes 250 kg of plant material to produce just 1 kg of the finished extract.

In terms of scent, Healingwood offers a deep, crystalline note with a light camphoraceous lift and a clean woody-mossy background. Small quantities are enough to bring depth and character to a composition.
