Florol® is one of the most important modern floral molecules in a perfumer's palette — developed by Firmenich in 1986 and patented in 1988. Chemically, it is 2-isobutyl-4-hydroxy-4-methyl-tetrahydropyran, a structural isomer of hydroxycitronellal, which it has largely replaced in modern perfumery.

After the EU ban on Lilial in 2022, Florol became one of the key tools for reconstructing lily of the valley, lilac and white floral accords — unlike Lilial and the classic floral aldehydes, it is non-allergenic, non-regulated and unrestricted by IFRA, which makes it a safe choice for years to come.

Florol has a fresh, soft and remarkably natural floral scent with a distinct lily of the valley (muguet) note — clean, faintly green and silky. Subtle linalool nuances linger in the background, alongside a light tea-like freshness and a delicate, fresh "floralness". Florol does not alter the character of a composition in which it is used — instead, it acts as a "floralizer", accentuating and amplifying the floral vectors of other ingredients.
