Vanni Claves

Davana is extracted via steam distillation of Artemisia pallens flowers and constitutes one of the sacred Graal of perfumery. The smell of this raw material is extremely complex and evocative. For sure it’s fruity green with boozy and strawberry nuances, but actually it can remind you the smell of a sparkling wine, like French Champagne or the precious Muffato wine, carefully harvested in the center regions of Italy.
The molecule called Davanone, usually present at around 40%, along with Geraniol and Nerol, is responsible for the multisensory properties of the oil that is indispensable in green architectures, fruity accords and floral themes where Rose and Wine are linked together…
Always fascinating to smell, and almost a perfume in its own right, the Davana oil sourced by Perfumiarz comes from Payan Bertrand, one of the top producers of this extremely remarkable raw material…and it’s simply amazing, from the clear yellowish colour to the complexity of the olfactory profile: almost wine-like, with this Blackcurrant/Strawberry undertone that lasts well beyond rational expectations…
I love Davana Oil and, by the way, my favourite perfume with this material is the majestic Sens-Merci by Givenchy, where Davana Oil is courageously associated with Vetiver Oil.
