Camphor is a classic material with a very distinctive cool, fresh and herbal character, with a slight medicinal and woody undertone. Its scent is sharp and penetrating, instantly bringing a sense of coolness, space, and “clean air” to a composition. In perfumery, it is used sparingly — mainly as an accent to lift herbal, coniferous, fougère, or eucalyptus-mint accords.

It is a material that can effectively energize a composition but can easily dominate it, so it works best in trace amounts. It blends well with lavender, rosemary, eucalyptus, pine, cedar, mint, and other aromatic or cooling materials. Camphor is a very classical, almost archetypal material — raw, expressive, and extremely useful wherever freshness with character is needed.
